AI Agent Readiness + Install Path Checklist

SAGE9AI free checklist

Version: 2026-07-24

Purpose: Help a beginner understand what they need before installing an AI agent, choose the right setup path, and know which free install guide to open next.

In 10 minutes, you will know whether you are ready to install an AI agent, which path fits you best, what accounts/tools you need, and what to do next.

1. The simplest recommendation

If you are a non-technical beginner, creator, solopreneur, consultant, educator, household operator, or small-business owner:

Start with Hermes Desktop / Hermes Agent as your first AI-agent path.
Use OpenClaw only if you want a more hands-on DIY/manual path and are comfortable with extra setup friction.

Why this order works:

2. Computer readiness

Check what is true today:

If you checked fewer than 4: start with guided help or the easiest Hermes Desktop path before attempting a manual/DIY install.

3. Account and provider readiness

You need at least one model/provider path so the agent can think and respond.

Note: install steps and provider screens can change. Use the current free SAGE9AI Hermes/OpenClaw install guides or official project documentation rather than copying old commands from screenshots or social posts.

4. Workflow readiness

Your first agent should solve one specific problem. Pick one starter direction:

Reader typeGood first workflow
Small-business ownerFAQ replies, missed-call follow-up drafts, intake checklist, review-request drafts
CreatorContent outline, research assistant, repurposing checklist
ConsultantClient intake, proposal draft, research summary
Student / learnerStudy plan, reading summary, skill-building tracker
Job seekerResume tailoring checklist, interview prep, job application tracker
Household operatorWeekly planning, shopping/meal plan, household admin

6. Free install-guide handoff

Choose one free guide:

Your install goal is simple:

Stop there. Do not try to automate your life or business on install day.

7. One safe sample prompt after install

After your agent can reply, run one small prompt:

Help me choose one practical first workflow for my AI agent. Ask only the questions needed. Favor something safe, simple, and useful today.

The full after-install prompt pack, command center templates, memory setup, communications setup, and security/data-boundary templates are in the paid SAGE9AI AI Agent Starter Kit.

8. Safety boundary

AI agents can draft, organize, summarize, plan, and recommend. They should not be treated as independent authority for medical, legal, tax, accounting, investment, employment, compliance, cybersecurity, or safety-critical decisions.

Before you paste anything into an agent, ask:

When in doubt, summarize the situation without exposing sensitive details.

9. Your recommended next step

Choose one:

Best default: understand what you need, install the simplest path, confirm one response, then use the Starter Kit to turn the agent into a practical first system.
